Where Councillors used to drive vans and cars, they now ride e-cargo bikes.
London Colney Parish Council is showing just how much you can achieve—with the help of a locally built Estarli e-cargo bike. Designed and assembled right here in Hertfordshire, this two-wheeled workhorse is helping the team get more done, more sustainably.
From planting trees and delivering tools to recycling and promoting clean air at schools, the e-cargo bike is now a key part of council life—and it’s turning heads.
“The thing that’s overwhelming is how easy stuff is to do, and how quick it is... doing this stuff in a van is just ridiculous,” says Environment Officer and County Councillor Matt Fisher.
Greener, Quicker, More Connected

-

-
🚲 100+ zero-emission miles—and counting!
And the project’s momentum has been powered by more than just pedals.
“It is excellent to see the impact that the e-cargo bike is making in London Colney, for both Parish Council and community operations,” said a spokesperson from St Albans Greener Together.
“St Albans Greener Together strives to help local communities lower their emissions and further their journey to net zero, and it is clear to see that is exactly what this project is accomplishing. The London Colney Parish Council project was funded through the Net Zero Fund, which was delivered by St Albans Greener Together, an Innovate UK funded project.”
“It’s about more than just transport,” adds Matt. “It’s a platform for behaviour change, leadership, and local pride.”
The council hopes this success will inspire others to follow suit—and Matt is already looking ahead:
“We’ve got an appetite for cycling—but we need to go much harder on cycle lanes. This is just the start.”
