When we first looked at adding bikes for guests, we didn’t want something that would sit unused in the corner - we wanted something people would genuinely be excited about. That’s exactly what we’ve got with the Estarli e28.X range.
In fact, you wouldn’t believe the number of guests who now get in touch before they even arrive just to ask about the bikes. It’s become part of the experience of staying here.
We chose Estarli because the bikes felt like a premium product from the start - beautifully made, thoughtfully designed, and, importantly for us, simple to use for a wide mix of guests. The e28.X in particular just made sense. They’re lightweight, easy to handle, and having both step-through and crossbar frames means pretty much anyone can hop on comfortably.
The automatic 2-speed motor is a bit of a game changer. Wherever our guests are - cruising along the coastal road to Sidi Kaouki, heading into Essaouira’s medina, or just rolling out for a sunset ride - they’re never in the wrong gear. There’s no thinking, no being caught in the wrong gear, just smooth riding from the moment they set off. For a lot of our guests, it’s their first time on an e-bike, and this makes it instantly enjoyable.
We’re right on the Atlantic coast here, with salty air, sandy tracks, and a bit of everything terrain-wise, so having bikes that can handle that without constant attention is essential. The belt drive has been perfect - clean, effortless to maintain and ideal for this kind of environment.
From a practical point of view, the removable batteries have made a big difference. We keep a simple setup with charging happening upstairs in a storeroom, and being able to quickly pop batteries in and out means it’s easy for the team to manage without disrupting anything else.
But the biggest thing has been how much guests actually use them. People aren’t just taking a quick spin - they’re heading out to explore the coastline, riding down towards the beaches around Sidi Kaouki, or making a full trip into Essaouira for the day. We’ve had so many guests come back saying it’s been a highlight of their stay.
And honestly, you can see it - people heading out in the morning and coming back at sunset with big smiles, having seen so much more than they would have otherwise.
